Day 1/30 To Begin or Not To Begin - That is the question

I have tried out templates.  I have looked at other Blogs.  I have read books.  I feel the need to begin.  I am not sure what I will write about each day, but I will commit to writing one thing each day for 30 days.

Today I was putting away some books and as usual it jogged my memory.  I found 4 that I pulled out.

The Magic Pumpkin by Sette - my son is working on a paper plate project and has seemed to have forgotten how to draw a jack o lantern mouth.  It could be reasonable, but he is in 5th grade!  He amazes me, he is so good at remembering some things like out wi-fi password, but then he forgets how to draw a mouth.  I guess all those little ones are different.

Benjamin Franklin - A Scientist by Nature by Grossman - My son is also learning about what it means to be a scientist and what kinds of work you would do as a scientists.  This book is a Guided Reading Level X. I am interested if my son can read it and if he can apply higher order thinking skills to and beyond text at this level.

Good Night Moon by Brown
Good Night Goon by Rex
I pulled out these books because they are good partner texts for many elementary grades.  I have read Good Night Moon to 1st graders to jog their memory of the rhyme and meter of the story.  Then I have read Good Night Goon to the same class.  The students love to anticipate the rhymes and the story.  We work on a Venn diagram together and I expose them to the rich vocabulary of compare and contrast.  I hope I can teach this lesson in the fall to my 2nd grade daughters class.
